The Municipality of Chinhoyi, in partnership with GIZ and the Junior Council, yesterday convened a Gender Policy Review Workshop aimed at strengthening the implementation of inclusive and responsive policies that promote gender equality and ensure no member of the community is left behind.
The workshop, facilitated by GIZ, brought together key stakeholders to review the Municipality's existing gender policies, identify areas for improvement, and enhance the integration of inclusivity in local governance. Discussions also focused on the aggregation of gender-related data to support informed decision-making and evidence-based planning.
Participants emphasized the importance of cascading gender policies to communities through awareness initiatives, ensuring residents understand their rights, responsibilities, and the benefits of gender-responsive development. The workshop further explored strategies for mainstreaming disability inclusion, highlighting the need to remove barriers that limit the participation of persons with disabilities in municipal programmes and services.
The engagement reaffirmed the Municipality of Chinhoyi's commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and accessible community through collaborative partnerships and policies that respond to the diverse needs of all residents.
