The Municipality of Chinhoyi, at its Ordinary Council Meeting held on 29 July 2026, conferred the prestigious title of Alderman on four distinguished current and former councillors in recognition of their exceptional service, dedication, and lasting contribution to the development and governance of the town.
The honour was bestowed upon current councillors Innocent Mangwanya and Vorster Mashevedzanwa. Former Councillors Blackmore Nyangairo and Prosper Mavunga, whose commitment to public service has played a significant role in advancing the Municipality's vision of delivering quality services and sustainable urban development were also awarded the honours.
The conferment of Alderman status is one of the highest civic honours awarded by the Municipality, recognising individuals who have demonstrated exemplary leadership, integrity, and unwavering dedication to serving the residents of Chinhoyi over many years.
Speaking during the meeting, Council acknowledged the recipients' invaluable contributions to local governance and expressed confidence that their legacy of service would continue to inspire both current and future generations of civic leaders.
